Insurer Gets Approval to Provide Individual Health Plans in North Carolina for 2022 | Local

Friday Health Plans Inc., a health insurer that focuses on home and business customers who buy their own health plans, said it plans to serve five triads and Northwestern North Carolina as part of its 2022 coverage areas.

The insurer, founded in 2015 and based in Denver, Colo., Said Wednesday it has obtained approval from the NC Department of Insurance to offer plans that comply with the Affordable Care Act, starting in January.

The plans will be available at, and from insurance brokers when the open enrollment period begins on November 1.

Among the 40 counties initially covered by the insurer are Alamance, Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham and Watauga.

Other counties where the insurer will provide coverage include Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Iredell, McDowell, Mitchell and Rutherford.

The insurer said it offered unlimited primary care visits at $ 0; unlimited mental health counseling sessions at $ 0; free annual eye exams; thousands of free generic drugs; and free virtual tours with doctors and mental health counselors.

“We want to grow where we can add value, and North Carolina is a match for us on many fronts,” said Sal Gentile, chief executive of the insurer, in a statement.
