By Kellie Mejdrich (May 27, 2022, 6:49 p.m. EDT) — Trans people who say denial of benefits violate anti-discrimination laws, as well as employers and healthcare providers who say coverage for transgender surgery gender confirmation would violate their religious beliefs, have sued in federal court seeking rulings on the extent of their rights.
The government is fighting injunctions won by religious employer groups who oppose gender transition health care coverage, while cases accusing employers of discrimination have also spread to the level circuit courts.
