LEADING medical and travel insurance provider Pacific Cross introduces FlexiShield, a second-tier plan, designed to meet the needs of customers in the event their health maintenance organization (HMO) or health insurance plan reaches its limit maximum benefits.
“An illness in the family has an impact on both an individual’s health and their finances. Some medical conditions, especially those that require containment, can become quite expensive to treat,” shares Victor Tanjuakio, President and CEO of Pacific Cross. “We hope to help alleviate some of the concerns that come with situations like these with FlexiShield.”
FlexiShield is an add-on cover that fully complements existing HMO plans. As such, its premium is more affordable than stand-alone medical plans. It extends inpatient coverage to the exhaustion of the maximum benefit limit of the existing and active first layer HMO plan. Members of corporate accounts, individuals and families who are already covered by an HMO plan can benefit from FlexiShield.
Benefits include coverage of up to 2 million pesos, daily hospital income for non-hospital expenses, flexible availability options (no cash-out or reimbursement), and coverage for Covid-19. Hospitalization costs, such as required diagnostic laboratory tests; prescribed drugs; anesthetic and surgical apparatus; and intravenous chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and dialysis are also part of the plan benefits, as covered under the first layer HMO plan. Hospital expenses incurred after the maximum benefit limit of the first layer HMO plan has been exhausted will be covered.
“We hope that with the benefits offered by FlexiShield, we will be able to give customers the peace of mind they need. [in order that] they can focus on improving themselves,” Tanjuakio concludes.
